Nat and Tyann (Marcink) Hammond
Deeply rooted in the area as a 6th generation German descendant, Tyann’s family land in Franklin County was a part of the “Go West” expansion when settlers came to the area and staked out 40 acres of land.
Her family rock house was built in 1872, and her gr-gr-gr-grandfather Henry Werner named the town of Lyon after General Lyon in the Civil War and was the first postmaster.
Meanwhile in the city of St. Louis, Nat’s family had begun Hammond Sheet Metal, one of the very first providers of wholesale metal ductwork and at the forefront of early use of sheet metal ductwork in St. Louis.
The original building on Cass St. in St. Louis was built in 1871 by the St. Louis Stamping Company and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Nat’s gr-gr-uncle Cooper Hammond was considered the leader in sheet metal in the early 1900’s and one of the few suppliers who sold exclusively to builders.
Both of Nat and Tyann’s families also worked in connection with the poultry and livestock divisions of Purina Farms in the mid 1900s. Did their family paths cross in the previous generation or two? We will never know.
Our Mission
Our mission for our vacation homes is to provide a place of rest and peace for families and friends to gather. There are many reasons to gather together, including strengthening family bonds, creating memories, and building relationships.
We believe those relationships, memories, and bonds are a part of the core foundation of a family unit, no matter the make up of your family unit. We celebrate diversity in families and friends by creating these spaces for our guests to enjoy.
Giving back
Part of our support of the family unit is our support of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for foster children. Tyann serves on the board of directors for Franklin County CASA, and we as a business donate $1 per booked night at all of our vacation rentals, both those through Branson Family Retreats and our Missouri Haus vacation rentals.
We also give our guests the opportunity to donate their support when they book with us. The option of adding a donation of $1/night or $1/person is presented at check out. Many guests have taken the opportunity to support CASA along with us, and we are thrilled to present the donation check at the end of the year.
